Le novità di SnapGene 8.2

SnapGene 8.2 streamlines access to metadata and contextual information with a new file table for multiple file selections, enhanced tooltips and modernized trace view and info panel.

File info table for multiple selections

The new file info table provides an overview of key file metadata for your selection.  Customizable columns allow you to tailor and sort the view to your needs.

Quickly understand key information about your sequences, with modern, visual tooltips for enzymesfeaturesprimers, and more.

Streamlined, modern UI

Trace view has been updated to be fully integrated into the main SnapGene UI with a new mode to view full height.  The redesigned flyover control for the folder panel improves access to key controls.  The modernized info panel displays metadata and embedded files clearly.

  • Multi file info table
  • Updated look and feel and added additional information to all data tooltips (enzymes, features, primers, ORF’s, amino acids, aligned sequences, degenerate letter codes, etc.)
  • Modernized the trace viewer as follows
    • Added a top toolbar
    • Moved the tabs to the top
    • Introduced a side toolbar for togging quality and the find controls
    • Added a Display button with new option to use the full height of the window
    • Relocated controls for switching between scaling and wrapping modes to the top right
    • Added a new Preference to show called bases above or below the peaks and the option 
    • Optionally include the Raw tab
  • Modernized and reorganized controls in the Info panel
  • Moved the button to expand/collapse the Project side panel top the top left. When collapsed the panel hides completely, but can be previewed by hovering over the button.
  • Improved the Add / Remove Enzyme menu in Enzymes view as follows
    • Added enzyme site counts
    • Added an asterisk if one or more sites are methylation sensitive
    • Support bold (unique cutters), green (blunt cutters), and italic preferences
  • Added a Save All command to the File menu
  • Added pUCm-T (linearized) to the bundled TA and GC cloning vectors
  • Automatically expand the side panel when opening a Project folder
  • Improve responsiveness when scrolling the file and folders panel
  • Changed the default background color in light mode to Frost
  • Allow triggering Simulate Gel or Align Sequences with two or more selected unsaved sequences
  • Improved various margins and spacing
  • Fixed various bugs where pasting into the New File and Add / Edit Primer dialogs or Find controls stripped out instead of offering to replace e.g. T’s with U’s depending on the target and copied sequence types.
  • Fixed a bug where wrapping a search query in quotes resulted in files not be found
  • Omit hand drawn messages when using SnapGene in another language
  • Improved stability when toggling base index labels when viewing secondary structures
  • Improved performance when viewing files in Google Drive
  • Fixed bugs where clicking Cancel did not always stop some bulk file operations from proceeding
  • Ensure the Save menu action is enabled when multiple files are selected
  • Fixed bugs with the Save and Delete actions on the Let Us Help you screen
  • Fixed a bug where clicking Cancel resulted in a message being shown indicating a bulk operation had failed
  • Fixed a bug where if one tab is open and it is an unsaved document the Close Saved Tabs action should be disabled
  • Fixed a bug that prevented expanding and collapsing the segments listing in Features view and respect the expansion state when printing
  • Fixed issues with renaming unsaved documents
  • Ensure files in the File and Folder panel are unselected when associated tabs are closed
  • Ensure unsaved changes to imported documents are maintained when performing bulk operations
  • Fix filenames shown in progress and results dialogs show correct filenames when performing bulk operations on unsaved files
  • Improved the placement of dropdown menus and tooltips
  • Fixed issues with expanding and collapsing the side panel
  • Improved stability when triggers actions from dropdown menus
  • Ensure Other Open Files that are deleted on disk are removed from the list when they their tabs is closed automatically
  • Fixed a bug where a file tab became blank after closing another tab
  • Fixed a bug with importing primers when the target file is saved on a network drive
  • Improve stability when selecting primers in Primers view in cloning dialogs
  • Fixed bugs with inserting hyperlinks
  • Use the preferred background color in the search results tab
  • Fixed an issue where the bottom of the file and folder panel could be clipped
  • Fixed a crash when removing aligned sequences in a Multiple Sequence Alignment
  • Fixed an issue where old content was sometimes shown when viewing a preview of the side panel
  • Fixed an issue where tooltips could spontaneously disappear
  • Fixed an issue where a drop down menu could disappear when releasing the mouse button just after clicking to expand the menu
  • Fixed an issue where a tab could become blank after renaming an open file
  • Fixed an issue where the cursor moved to the end of the primer name in a cloning dialog after typing to replace selected name characters
  • Fixed an issue where files and folders could disappear from the side panel when folder were collapsed
  • Improved sorting files and annotations by their name
  • Fixed various bugs with expanding and collapsing the side panel
  • Fixed an issue that prevented user based licenses from working for short periods offline on Linux
  • Fixed an issue where some bulk operations (circularize, linearize, convert to double- or single-stranded) did not use the proper file extension for the newly created files
  • Fixed an issue where drop down menus were sometimes shown on the wrong screen
  • Fixed an issue that prevented clicking in empty space to toggle expansion of sections on the Home screen.
  • Fixed a rare condition that could prevent checking for software updates
  • Improved the window title and button text when converting two or more files to be double-stranded
  • Fixed an issue that could result in file names becoming invisible in the file and folder panel after performing a bulk operation
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when closing without saving modified other open files
  • Fixed a bug that prevented showing quality data when printing sequence traces
  • Warn the user if Microsoft Edge WebView is not installed when attempting to activate a User Based License
  • Fixed an issue where the wrong file could be opened when double-clicking in the File and Folder Panel

  • SnapGene 5.1 – 6.0: Windows 7 or later (64-bit only for Intel).
  • SnapGene 6.1 – 7.0: Windows 10 or later (64-bit only for Intel).
  • SnapGene 7.1-8.1: Windows 10 version 1809 or later – see What version of Windows am I using?

SnapGene is not officially supported on Windows 11 for ARM-based computers, but initial testing indicates it will run without issue – see Will SnapGene run on Windows for ARM?

macOS

  • SnapGene 5.2.5 or earlier: macOS 10.12.
  • SnapGene 5.3 – 6.0: macOS 10.13 or later.
  • SnapGene 6.1 – 7.0: macOS 10.14 or later.
  • SnapGene 7.1 – 8.1: macOS 11 or later. 

SnapGene 8.0 is supported on macOS 15.0 Sequoia

SnapGene version 6.1 and later are natively supported on Apple ARM-based “Apple Silicon” computers. It will run on x64 Intel-based Mac computers and Apple-Silicon M-series Mac computers (M1–M4).

Linux

  • SnapGene 4.0 – 5.2: Ubuntu 16.04, RedHat 6.6 & 7.2.
  • Snapgene 5.3 – 6.0: Ubuntu 18.04, CentOS 7 (1810) or RedHat 7.6.
  • SnapGene 6.1 – 7.0: Ubuntu 20.04, CentOS 8 (2105) or RedHat 8.4.
  • SnapGene 7.1 – 8.0: Ubuntu 22.04,  CentOS 8 Stream or RedHat 8.6.
  • SnapGene 8.1: Ubuntu 22.04.

SnapGene is not supported on Linux for ARM-based computers
SnapGene 8.1 is not supported on CentOS/RedHat
